Five major events scheduled
Battle of Richmond Living History
Thursday, Friday, May 8-9, at Battlefield Park - 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
More than 400 four- and fifth-graders are expected for this seventh
annual event; 12 stations of activities and demonstrations are planned.
Central Kentucky Civil War Trails
Saturday, May 10, at Battlefield Park - 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This living
history program is free and open to the public. Numerous stations and
activities, military camps and demonstrations will be highlighted.
Celebrity Classic Golf Tournament
Friday, Aug. 22, at Battlefield Golf Course - Registration and
continental breakfast for the fourth annual golf tournament is scheduled
for 8 a.m. with play beginning at 9 a.m. EKU and other Kentucky sports
personalities will participate.
Battle of Richmond Re-enactment Weekend
Saturday/Sunday, Aug. 23-24, at Battlefield Park - 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The
seventh annual re-enactment of the Battle of Richmond will be conducted
at 2 p.m. each day. Numerous living history activities are available;
Union and Confederate camps open, performances scheduled at Rose Barn
Theatre.
Annual Awards Celebration
Thursday, Nov. 6, at Arlington - time, details to be announced.
Directions:
Note: Battlefield Park (Barnett-Gibbs-Herndon Farm) is
located at 4252 Battlefield Memorial Highway (U.S. 421, the Old State
Road) across from the Blue Grass Army Depot. The park is approximately
seven miles from I-75 Exit 87 and about five miles south of Richmond.
Directions:
(1) Take I-75 to Exit 87, go east on the Eastern Bypass,
(2) At the U.S. 421/U.S. 25 intersection, go south
(3) At the U.S. 421/U.S. 25 split, bear left onto U.S. 421
(Battlefield Memorial Highway) and continue south,
(4) Battlefield Park
is approximately two miles on the right.
